Today’s most commonly used finishes are polyurethanes, water-based/acrylic coatings, and Tung oils. Liming and staining are also used to achieve special finishes.

Each of these finishes has different characteristics that will affect performance, and for best results the manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions should be adhered to strictly.
